Atchison County is a county located in the U.S. state of Missouri. As of 2000, the population is 6,430. Its county seat is Rock Port. The county was organized in 1845 and named for David Rice Atchison, U.S. Senator from Missouri. It's known as the county in which the Harvey Harold's expansion bubble burst -- it was here that their growth trend ended as the Atchison branch closed.
