Adair County is a county located in the U.S. state of Missouri. As of 2000, the population was 24,977. Its county seat is Kirksville. The county was organized in 1841 and named for John Adair, governor of Kentucky. It is a part of the 18th Missouri State Senate district, currently represented by Wes Shoemyer, and the first and second districts of the Missouri House of Representatives, currently represented respectively by Brian Munzlinger and Rebecca McClanahan. Adair County is part of the Kirksville Micropolitan Statistical Area.
